Superkids Educational Software
Superkids is a website for children, teens, and parents that showcases different learning tools as well as recommendations of learning resources. It features several pages of software reviews and even has own versions of educational games, exercises on different subjects and trivia pages. Although the Superkids educational software has a relatively plain interface, it doesn't fail in providing its users (both children and parents) with lots of fun while learning basic skills.
The biggest part of Superkids comprises of educational software reviews especially prepared by its own staff. On the website it says that these reviews are written by educators, parents, and children themselves and that the software undergo tests based on set criteria. I think it's nice that even children who have the most hands-on experience with the tested software, get to share their output.
Then there are the educational tools, parts of which can be a real treat even to grown-ups. Here's a list of some of the exercises and materials your kids can work on using the Superkids educational software:
Math worksheets - These can be "customized", meaning you can set the minimum and maximum numbers you'd want to appear and even choose whether or not to include decimals in the basic operations exercises.
Flashcards (SAT words) - These vocabulary flashcards are grouped
into 28 sets, recommending the student to memorize one set of 40 words
per day to achieve a rate of 1000+ words memorized in less than a month.
(There's currently a note though that indicates that the site is still
under construction and may not work in some browsers or computers, so
just take your chance and try it out. The configuration isn't all too
complicated.)
Hangman - This classic game is very simplistic and there are certain
categories which just show the same word/s repeatedly, so you'd have
to click on "New Word" around five times if you played the
game for fifteen minutes. Still, I'm impressed by the variety of categories
covered by the game: language, history, geography, science, music, and
fun. Other non-school related categories are 90s/80s/70s... movies,
which makes this page easily the one I frequent. Great if you or your
child needs a break from studying or from the educational exercises.
Blank worksheets - The Superkids educational software doesn't
just deliver customized math exercises, you can even come up with your
own exercises using this software and use their printable worksheets.
Logic games and puzzles - Lots of those classic word, strategy
games you can think of: Tic Tac Toe, Checkers, Breakout, Scrabble, Classic
21. Another page that parents like to frequent.
Finally, the Superkids educational software also posts fun stuff such as one-liners, countdowns and all of those other humurous stuff our friends and colleagues spam us with. Superkids has got a collection of the best quotes and countdowns you most probably have already read in your inbox sometime in the past.
On a more serious note though, Superkids also allots a page for feature articles, presenting education and parenting-related write-ups.
Just go ahead and see for yourself, there's so much on this site to
explore and I promise it will be worth your and your children's while.
